Resegregation of Schools in US and its Impact

 

Resegregation of schools in the US has been making news since quite some time. Mostly because of the demographic composition, the developed state is facing this problem. Being a multi racial culture there are several issues that crop again and again that may or may not get equal opportunities to the citizens, irrespective of their rights. Not only that, the percentage of suspending students and at times, expelling or holding back students of ninth grade are very high. Whatever the actuality is, one thing is sure; students are likely to get affected in terms of quality education and various other privileges for sure, especially the ones with low income groups and those who comes under minority. From this, one can conclude that a large number of schools in the US have been serving minority students but this doesn’t necessarily mean “resegregation”. There has been an increase in the number of minority students and so in the number of schools for such students, nationally. Also the various methods used to measure resegregation need to be classified properly. Either way, the problem cannot be addressed.
